if I purchase a 12" powerbook with a combo drive, can I upgrade it to a superdrive at a later time? if so, how do I go about it (officially or in-officially), and how much will it cost?

you can send it into Mac ResQ and pay 300$ for one, and break your warrranty. NO WAY Apple will do it for you...
