Am I missing something here or is the Yosemite installer not yet available in the App Store?

I'm getting an item not available error when trying the 'upgrade now' link from apple's website.

My Mac is well within the requirements (13" MBP Mid 2012) so that shouldn't be it.

Anyone else seeing this?

You are missing nothing.

Yosemite is yet to be officiallly released. Those using Public Beta Release got them back in June or July and currently up to Version 6. Anticipate in the next couple of weeks Yosemite will become available.

Couple weeks? It's supposed to be available today (In the US at least) and the website even has a link to the App Store that's not working for me.

I know I may be jumping the gun a bit here. Just curious if this is widespread and I'm not being patient enough or if I have a unique issue.

It was announced today to be available "now." But I haven't seen it for download, either, so it may not be up yet.

I plan to wait until several of you brave adventurous people install it and post your opinions before I take the plunge.

Lisa

Just saw the download in app store but when I clicked on it said it was temporarily unavailable. (Will wait to install but didn't say I wouldn't download it!)

Oh ye of little faith!

If the world adopted this attitude what would happen?

Lots of faith here Harry. But I still made a backup first! Yosemite downloading as I'm writing this. Also a Yosemite update for iTunes, Pages, Keynote, and Numbers. If you don't hear from me for the rest of the evening, you'll know that I crashed and burned.

It's available now (at least here in the U.S.). I had to search for "Yosemite" in the Mac App Store. A little surprised it wasn't blazoned on the main page. I'm actually using it right now too. I'm adjusting to how "flat" and minimalistic everything is. Not necessarily a bad thing, just a slight adjustment to the eyes.

I went to Apple.com. The Yosemite OS is available there. I'm currently downloading.
Now back to trying to figure out why my 1.5 TB external harddrive just bit the dust :-(

Downloading now. Will backup and then decide how long to wait. On my DSL speed I probably have at least all night to wait.....

I have a decent connection (Did not hit the fair usage limit yet). But it is painfully slow. 4 hours to go according to the downloader.

Of course I could wait a couple of days and download it faster, but I like updating stuff lol.

Up and running on Yosemite. Now to go back to Software Update and download the new versions of iWork apps.

I boot with a USB stick, go to the menu, select restore from Time Machine backup, and its worked over 60 times now if not more.

It's True the Time Machine backup on an external drive will not boot on it's own, but any OSX install booter that has the time machine option will allow complete restore. I do it on friends Macs also that I upgrade for them.

Thanks Travis. It's good to know that it works most of the time. I could try this before I go the other way, all I would lose would be my time if it doesn't work :)

Installed. One incompatible program, "Total Finder," but I'm ok waiting for it to be updated. Very flat GUI and I absolutely HATE iTunes 12 interface. What were they thinking?

I really appreciate that they eliminated the double arrow thing in the upper right hand corner. Now that function is incorporated with the green button on the upper left. An annoyance gone.

This is what I saw on the Software Update page this morning.
