Can the Junk Folder be removed from Mail

I am having problems getting the Junk filter to stop Junking mail which I want. Even after marking mail as Not Junk future e-mails from the same source are still ending up in the Junk Folder. I have tried adding them to my Contacts but it still treats them as Junk.

Luckily I don't receive much Junk or Spam mail so I am quite happy to delete it manually, so is there any way of removing the Junk Folder, I can't seem to find any menu items covering this?

Many Thanks,

Chris

Chris, I don't know what version of Mac Mail you are using so it would be helpful to know that but if you are running OSX 10.9 it is probably 7.3 (you can check in the Mail Menu under "About Mail"). If so in Mail Menu > Preferences you should see at the top several tabs. The second one from the left is Junk. Under Junk you will see the top option is Enable Junk Mail Filtering. Unticking this will turn off Junk Mail Filtering but you might want to play with a few of the other options first like ticking , Sender of Message is in my Contacts if it's not already ticked.:D

Easiest way to prevent this is ensure the sender is listed in Contacts.

This is how my Junk preferences are set up but I no longer use Apple Mail. So a bit of experimentation might be advised.

Thanks Guys.

BTW harryb2448, adding to contacts doesn't seem to work - the wrong stuff still ends up in the junk folder.

Rod, I'll try your settings and see what happens.
