I am thinking of or will be buying a ipad very soon. I need to be able to access a colleagues calendar on his ipad so that we can confirm meeting dates and advise clients.

I use a mac and he uses a windows based machine.
Firstly can this be done, and, secondly do I need to change software or will the basic mac calendar do the job.
Thirdly can we do this over the Cloud?

As I have never had an iPad I feel a bit lost with a way to set this up.
Also security issues could arise.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

You both (in my opinion) would be better served by using Google Calendar. You could also use iCloud to coordinate your calendars. It doesn't matter if his iPad is synced to Windows and yours to OS X, it should work. However, I believe Google is easier to use.
