AdwareMedic has been replaced/subsumed by:

Malwarebytes (free)
https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/

Malwarebytes should be just as effective as AdwareMedic at taking care of adware. Malwarebytes also purports to remove other "malware". I have my doubts about that. But it should be your first resort when you need to deal with adware.
