Help! Macbook OS X Snow Leopard Problem

my macbook has went into kernel panic mode. i tried to put snow leopard 10.6 and it went to load it then stopped and had a question mark then kernal panic and sometimes a lock, but wont do anything else. help

I tried to do a clean Snow Leopard repair 10.6 to 10.6 and the computer does kernal panic, or a ? mark or a lock and will not do anything else. It is my daughters boyfriends labtop and Ihave to fix it Help

So, are you trying to update the MacBook from OSX 10.5(Leopard) to 10.6(Snow Leopard)? If so, where did you get the Snow Leopard software from?

No it already had snow leopard 10.6 and I was trying to put a clean install. I bought the cd's from apple store. I used them to do clean install on my MacBook and they worked fine. It seems like the optical drive wants to play the cd but it won't, it sounds like it is spinning though. When I first put the cd in it asked me if I want to repair. I took the cd out and tried again and this happened

The Apple Store has not sold Snow Leopard for yonks.
