Uploading photos to Facebook

My iMac won't let me upload photos - I see the actual photo folder but it won't open when I try uploading from FB

Here's how I upload photos to Facebook:

1. In iPhoto, I select a picture, press the "Share" button, choose Facebook, choose a new or existing album. Done.

OR

2. With a web browser open to FB and the chosen photo on my desktop, I drag it directly into my status box. Done. I then throw away the copy on my desktop.
