How can I adjust online permissions of certain Mac apps?

There are some apps on my iMac that I want to make sure don't have online access, because I know some apps have access when you don't know about it.

Turn on your firewall. System Preferences, Security & Privacy, Firewall Tab, select turn on firewall. Open the small lock by entering your admin password before making changes. After the firewall is turned on, an application that makes contact on line will have to ask permission.
