Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not sure what operating system I'm using. It's my first Mac and I got it recently.

When I turn my computer on I can't type anything in the password field. I tried restarting with command-r but nothing happens. It seems that the computer doesn't see the keyboard. I tried switching USB ports and it's not a problem with the port.

I don't have the disk.

The mouse works just fine.

Any suggestions? Is it possible to log into a repair mode with just the mouse?

Any suggestions?

We're going to need as much information that you can provide: Which Mac do you have? If possible, year and model? About the keyboard... is it wired, wireless? I'm assuming the Mac is not new but one that you bought second hand? Get back to us with those answers and we'll go from there.

And welcome to the Mac Forums!

What kind of keyboard??

If it's wireless, are its batteries dead?? Try installing new batteries.

If it's a wired keyboard, try another keyboard and/or cable.

I'd doubt that using repair mode would even fix the problem - if you could even enable and use it.
