mac mini won't eject disk

Mac Pro 1.1 desktop, Mac Mini 2005, Mac G5 desktop
I have a 2005 mac mini g4 that won't eject the cd, I have tried using the keyboard eject key as well as holding down the right mouse key. any suggestions?

Restart the Mac. Immediately after the system startup sound, press and hold the mouse button. Continue to hold the mouse button until the computer is finished starting up.
(supposed to force eject)

Alas sounds like the optical drive has failed. Have you placed an eject button in the Menu Bar? To do this go to Go/Computer/System/Library/Core Services/ Menu Extras.
Double-click the Eject.menu item in the Menu Extras folder.
