Pop-ups all the time

Whenever I click a link/page a pop-up windows comes up behind my original windows. Often there are 10 of them before I notice it. There are also a lot of ads on my google search pages. I've tried googling but couldn't find a solution that worked.

Appreciate any help and tips

AdBlock Plus and Ghostery. There's a version for most browsers.

Hi Craig - I just added AdBlock to my Safari Extensions - don't see a Plus? Does one have to make a donation? Thanks for the mention of Ghostery - appears to be a tracking (or NOT tracking) extension? Dave :)
