Is it possible to assign a word or phrase to a keyboard combination without using third-party software? In particular, I'd like to assign my e-mail address: I'm tired of typing it out over and over every day.

Thank you all.

System Preferences/Keyboard, Text tab.
Replace "em" with email. Or whatever instead of "em".

Yup. I've been using Spark for ages, SL and Mavericks, it sure works well for me and I use it for just such a similar use assigned to a single unused F key.

Single key press operation and all my signature text or whatever is set is added. It's third-party software but it's free and never caused any problem!!!

Spark for Mac | MacUpdate

PS: I also use it to open some often used applications with a single F key push, but I also have and use an Apple extended keyboard with its extra F keys.
