I took a picture of a weird Word bug where on sleep wakeup all the documents are small, red, and frozen. How can I embed it? If I click the picture icon it asks for a URL but it's on my hard drive...

...every single time now. Looks like the attached-windows become small, background has become red instead of white, everything is frozen. I've rebooted, I have enough memory (6GB physical not even all used). This is on a MacBook under 10.9.4 running Word 2008.

???

I had read a thread where someone said to delete /Library/Cache but I got a warning message and became too paranoid to do that...

Sometimes I also get another error message, something about the Microsoft Office something and your file cannot be saved...sorry, can't remember exactly, and maybe unrelated.

Click on Go Advanced at the bottom, and then Manage Attachments. A new pop-up will appear where you can find the image and upload it. It will not be part of the post..

Your post was moved here to the proper forum: Apps and Games. It certainly did not belong in our off topic forum - Schweb's Lounge. Please observe forum descriptions before posting.

As to your problem with Word 2008: I've never seen that before using Word 2008 and now Word 2011. It may be some type of corruption that has occurred in your user identity. The best method for curing that is to remove Word and reinstall. Before removing Word, make sure you have your serial number on hand or you will not be able to reinstall.

Follow these MS instructions to remove Word 2008. The removal of Word will not remove your documents or personal templates but you should back them up anyway as a precaution.

I'd like to reinstall, but this is a school district computer so Heaven only knows where the install discs are.

What other things could I try short of that? I just repaired permissions-and there were a LOT repaired-and there is no software to update.

Rather than trying to remove the Cache, go into Library and look for .plist files associated with Office and remove to Trash without emptying and reboot.

Hmm, in Library --> Preferences I found
com.microsoft.Excel.plist
com.microsoft.Powerpoint.plist
but nothing with Word in the title.

I also found the error message that the Microsoft Office Database was somehow bad, and repaired that.

But the red frozen windows persist. Not necessarily ever sleep occurrence, but still frequent. And just Word, not PowerPoint or Excel or any other application...
