I have a 27" 3.4 Ghz iMac 12,2. My desktop shows Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD 2. When I double click the icon for Macintosh HD the window that comes up shows my files on Macintosh HD and Macintosh HD 2 as being virtually empty. I keep getting notifications from my Checkmate app that I have less than 5% space left. How do I, or maybe I should say can, I save to the HD 2?

We're going to need more information. Did you partition your hard drive and/or have a second hard drive installed? Also, you might want to include a screen shot of what Disk Utility shows for your hard drive partitions.

iMac

I think the Migration assistant created a partition when it moved my files from my old TiBook.

The screenshot you posted was not all that clear but it looks like you have two drives installed in your iMac:

1TB Seagate standard hard drive (HD2)
256 GB Apple SSD

The SSD appears to be your primary boot drive and naturally would fill up first. The 1TB drive is the secondary drive.

Do both drives show up on your desktop?
