Mac pro mouse freezes

Frustrated. I use cubase for recording and i have s mac pro 16 GB Ram 2.66 GHZ.
My mouse intermittently freezes as i use it. I switched to e new mouse to see if it was the actual mouse but the same thing happened. I adjusted the mouse settings but no dice.

Hard to say no information on operating system etc. USB or wireless?

I just bought a mac pro 2012 and i want to copy all of my files (cubase and all plugins also) from my 2007 mac pro to the 2012 mac pro. Can i just swap the hard drives or put it in one of the hard drive trays?
