Does anyone know what might be causing (or what I could check as far as settings go), for an issue I'm having - apps shutdown while MAC is in sleep mode?
My MAC will go t sleep after 10 mins, and any apps I had open are shutdown when I start using the MAC again. Any help would deb greatly appreciated. I'm new to the MAC.

10.8.5 is Mountain Lion. Don't think app-nap came out until Mavericks (10.9).
You might have some other problem.

Are the apps shutdown in the sense that you have to click on the icon to have them start up again or are still running but unresponsive?

How long has this been going on? Does this happen with specific apps or all apps?

Hi Raz0redge…it's been going on for a while..I just have been restarting the apps each time.
I'm a MAC newbie..so I have done any research until now on the issue.
It happens to ANY/ALL apps that are open..usually Safari, Yahoo Mgr, Excel iTunes.

OK, so if an application is running, there is a small light that appears under its icon in the Dock, you are saying that after you sleep and wake up your Mac, that light is gone and you have to click on the icon again to start the app again?

Do any of the apps complain when they are restarted about being killed?

HI..I never noticed the light before, I'll take notice and see what happens the next time it happens, but I think some of the apps are no longer showing on the dock Y-Mgr), because I don't use it all the time.

I have shutdown Safari every day, when I know I'll be away form the laptop for awhile..and this seems to have resolved the issue.
Maybe Safari was 'hanging' or the version had a bug.
Thanks for the info!
