Flash Player 11.2 problems on OS X

I have recently upgraded to the latest OS X Mavericks on my MacBook pro. I need to open files made in Adobe Flash Player 11.2. The system won't allow them to play for security reasons. Any advice?

I believe your issue is Flash has been upgraded many many times since 11.2. Apple locks out Flash from working for security reasons if it's too far out of date and trust me yours is! Go get the latest Flash Player, something like 14 from Adobe and your issues should all vanish!

I really appreciate your advice. I have a current version of Flash Player on my mac, but the old Flash files I need to open are still being blocked. I will go back and check I have the latest version of Flash and try again. thanks again.

Are you referring to FLV Flash videos per chance? If you are, From Mavericks forward they went to the IOS video engine and FLV's no longer play. Download a Video player called VLC. It will play anything out there!

I downloaded the latest Flash player - and it has helped with one of the interactive files (a quiz with no videos) - and it partially helped with the interactive video quiz - but yes - they are FLV video files linked to the old Flash Player - I can play them as stand alone video files through VLC but not as intended as part of the interactive video quiz. I really appreciate your help but it looks as though I have done everything except load windows on the mac which is a bit beyond me and I'm not sure I want to go down that track anyway. Thanks again.

What do you mean by "security reasons"? Are you getting some sort of on-screen message?

There is another way with FLV's on Mavericks. You search on Apple for Quick Time 7. Install it and it will still use the old Perian Codec and play FLV files. I am not sure with your interactive files if this will help, but figured I would suggest it.

Hi - no I haven't had any on screen security messages. (most of the messages are 'this file needs to be opened in MS Windows") I will try it with Quick Time 7. thanks again for your suggestions. Cheers,

Hi - from internet research I learned that the latest mac OS X blocks older Adobe Flash Players for security reasons.

Try this:
Apple blocks older Flash plug-in versions in Safari due to vulnerability
and..
"Users who need to run older, flawed versions of Flash may do so by configuring Safari's plug-in management settings to allow specific websites to "Run in Unsafe Mode." Re-enabling older Flash versions requires Safari 6.1 or later. ..."
