So I'm reading this article on Safari: Don't Keep Up With Safari | Rixstep Learning Curve and wondering how Firefox measures up.
I really need to find something else to do when I'm bored at work.
I wonder what app he's using to show the leaks?

PS. There's info there for people who want to go back a few versions of Safari. (NOT saying I recommend it tho)

Wish I could, diabetic. :(

You know what I mean…eating snacks that you are "allowed" to eat.:)

According to a couple articles I just read. Diabetics can eat doughnuts…you just gotta take an extra shot of insulin!:)

I always knew Safari leaked worse than a broken pipe but that's brutal.

I did learn that the Instruments tool that comes with XCode can monitor apps for leaks. I kind of want to test it later.

Yeah, I know. I actually can eat them, I just don't (very often).
I'm not on insulin, thankfully, but I do watch my sugar and carbs.
Especially high fructose corn syrup, wont buy anything with it in it if I can help it.

Instruments huh? Have to check that out.

Seriously, you'd be amazed at the stuff that's in nowadays. Losing battle.

Reading articles about Safari issues probably is a great way to avoid eating doughnuts (or extra calories in general).

My wife has diabetes (Type 2)…she has to inject insulin once/day (she actually used to take some sort of pills). But injecting insulin is supposed to be better (more effective & less side effects). Great to hear you don't have to!:)

I got into habit of ⌘Q-ing Safari every chance I get, it is somewhat satisfying to see a GB or more of RAM being freed right away (Memory Clean display in Menu) ;D

You could always use a better browser. ;)

Yes, but what other options are there? - I prefer not use anything Google, so Chrome is out; don't like Opera (well, I do like it, only the La Scala kind); Firefox - it's in my Linux VM ... feels a bit like yesteryear :\

Why? It's a fully featured, fast, cross-platform with tremendous development support.

I get this one - the new versions of Opera leave much to be imagined.

I'm a little confused by this one. It's also a modern browser with tremendous development support.

Strange as I am getting no leaks at all with new Safari in Yosemite. None. Every other Safari since the one that came with 10.7 leaks so bad it's almost unusable with my limited RAM in my older Macs.

I'm sure it is, I just don't want anything Google on my system :\

Yeah, I'm a bit confused by my own reaction to it too ... doesn't appear to be based on anything quantifiable or objective

Oh, you should see iFreeMem turn blue after a while using Firefox on my Air with 4GB RAM (Mavericks).
It all slows down to a crawl, then I have to invoke the script I wrote to Force Quit and restart.

Cheers :)

Any particular reason? I'm just trying to figure out why Chrome won't work for you (if it doesn't, it doesn't - I'm not trying to push anything).

I don't know about cradom, but I have nothing from Google on my system either. Every Google application reports back to the mother ship what is going on, helping them build a more and more complete profile of the user. YouTube, Chrome, Google, Google Mail, Google Earth, etc, etc, etc, all add to the profile. And if you use Ghostery, you'll see Google Analytics on just about every URL, too. So I'm trying to avoid the Google Empire by not using their products at all, if I can avoid it.
