Click on the link in the post above yours. And, it's not a virus because none exist for the Mac that are in the wild. MacVX is ad-ware, nothing more.

The only thing you need to clean your iMac is a soft, dry cloth.
I have had great success cleaning peoples adware of their computers with this program starting with step 1. Adware is different than a virus.

And after removal install in your browser as extensions AdBlock Plus and Ghostry. Both are free and will help prevent further issues.
