Finder - Ghost window(s) appearing

iMac: 5K 27” (2020), 3.3 GHz, 32Gb RAM. iPad2, iPad mini4, iPhone 13 Mini, Apple Watch SE
Increasingly, but only since installing Mavericks, I note that on loading Finder a partial host window momentarily appears as shown in the image below. Sometimes a number of these appear in a cascade before quickly disappearing when the intended finder window loads. Any idea what is going on?

Hopefully image is there now. Thank you.
