Mail - multiple recipients?

I'm having trouble sending out a mass fan email - it's rejected by the outgoing mail server. But when sending a simple one person email (to myself for instance), no snags. What gives?

Note: some of the address are international. Will that make a difference?

Answered my own question - make sure all recipients actual have EMAIL addresses, not just URLs
