Hey guys, mid 2010 Mac Mini here. i have some programs that I have downloaded that I want to permanently delete from my computer. I tried dragging them from the Applications folder in to Trash but that didn't work. How do I just wipe a program from the computer? Thanks all. Running Mavericks.

Go to Downloads and at bottom select Open in Finder, select it (in Finder) and trash it (right click, drop-down menu).

If the App has a Uninstaller, use that to get rid of the whole App. (google Does App X have a uninstaller) If it does and you don't have the .dmg anymore, download it again, and install the App and then use the uninstaller to get rid of it. If you don't, you will be left with bits and pieces everywhere.

If it doesn't have a uninstaller, download a little utility like App Trap install it, then just drag App X to the trash and App Trap will trash all the little files that usually get left behind.

Cheers

Follow Tattoo's instructions.

Many apps and utilities will not voluntarily go the way of trashing.

DotDotDot's way worked great. Thanks. Thanks for the other ways to. :) I will probably be using all ways in the future. There is So much that I do not know.
