First time poster here - can I restart this thread please?

I have exactly the same problem when I Facetime my daughter. Any noise from our end means I cannot hear her for a second or two - so in a conversation we have to wait and have absolute silence before she replies. We have iphones and ipads in both houses, and she also has a mac. It happens on any combination of these devices and it isn't due to protective covers as some of these devices don't have them.

We've lived with it for a long time, but now that I have a 11 mth grandson who doesn't understand he needs to wait, I am missing out on his laughter and the sounds he is making trying to respond to me and I want to stop this happening. :'(

If I need to start a new thread please let me know, but if anyone knows how this can be resolved I would be very grateful.

Thank you very much.
Sharon

Don't have an answer yet but do have a question: Do either of you experience this when using FaceTime with others?

Spun this off into a new thread rather than leaving it in an old thread. May lead to more views/answers.

Congrats on the new grandson.:Cool::Cool:

Thank you Slydude - both for putting this into a new thread for me and for your kind congratulations. :)

I've only ever Facetimed my daughter, and I think we are the only ones they Facetime. I know other who have iphones and ipads, so I'll try it out with them and let you know if I get the same problem.

Thanks again,
Sharon

What you're experiencing with FaceTime is not normal. Background noise should not cut out your or your daughter's sound from coming through. I FaceTime with my grand daughter on my iPhone to her iPhone and there's plenty of background noise on both ends but it does not interfere with the signal or audio.

Have you tried moving around the house to see if that makes a difference? Of course you'll need to make sure your WiFi signal is strong enough. And by the way, the strength of your WiFi will impact on FaceTime calls same as it does with Skype.
