External drive

I am trying to retrieve music from an external drive using my Mac mini. The music was put on the external drive from my sisters MacBook. When I plug the drive into the Mac mini USB it recognizes the drive but none of the music files show up on the external drive. They do shoe up on the MacBook. What am I doing wrong. I love the Mac but it makes me feel computer illiterate.

Do you mean they don't show up in iTunes or don't show up on the drive at all?
