Hi, can someone help me with my macbook air 2011 (I think) with core 2 duo. There seems to be random freezes approx. 2-5 times a month, independent of what I do.Cursor is stuck with SBBOD and keyboard is non-responsive.
My suggestion is simply limited hardware, but please help.

You are running Mavericks and only have 2 GB of RAM. That right there is much of the problem. Also, how much drive space is used/free? If it is under 20% free or worse, nearly full, that'd be another problem.

Thanks for the quick reply. Etrecheck says 40 GB free disk out of 120 GB. I guess that makes 30 % free space which wouldent be a problem.

Was is the solution to this low-ram problem?
I am thinking of:
- Upgrade RAM on 2011 macbook air model
- Downgrade Mac osx
- Some kind of third party program

You can't upgrade the RAM. It's soldered in. I don't think that downgrading the OS would help. Mavericks has a memory compression feature that actually helps it run better on less RAM than prior versions.

We can look at some other things. Start with some basic maintenance with Onyx. Run its full suite of maintenance and cleaning tools. Perhaps you have a buggy cache. Also, are you running anything persistently in the background like AV software, or anything like MacKeeper?

I dont think we have anything in the background. The mac is only used for basic things like internetsurfing, writing thesis on word, etc.
Once, my girlfriend downloaded mackeeper by mistake and I had a hard time deleting it. It may be gone as I followed instructions from the forum.

I can try Onyx, but what is AV software?
