I have an older Canon MP620 Printer that I would like more flexibility with as far as printer settings. The software from Canon does not give me many options at all. I would like to be able to adjust print shades (dark to light to save ink), greyscale and so forth.

Is there a favored App or software that you guys use? thanks

The Gimp-Print drivers might give you more flexibility. It does for some printers and not others. That series of printers is listed as one of those supported but I have no way of noting if it supports more features or not.

I don't have a Canon MP620 Printer or know about its optional settings, but most printers have various ink or toner savings builtin in the print window, but the options usually change depending on the application being used.

I will admit that they are often not vary obvious, but once found can sometimes be set and save as a print mode.

Greyscale for example could be obtained by selecting an option for B&W, Draft and/or adjusting the ink/toner amount. Even on a photo.

Bottom line, try checking out all the page setups and any options or advanced settings to get what you want, or at least closer than the default settings in your various print windows.

I'm sure you'll find the options you want - but probably buried somewhere in the print window. :D

That's the summary window of your present settings for that page.

You should be able to change them in the print window and click any preset box with any disclosure triangles for other options to select.

Something close to this, and any other drop down box you might see:
