HP 2542 issues

I just installed HP 2542 printer. When printing from the computer, the print only comes out in gray scale
(B&W) I have installed the latest hp software.

I don't know about the HP 2542, but other HP printers that I have used come with a utility (HP printing utilities) that can set the printer to B&W only. Look to see if you installed the HP utilities and make sure that setting has not been selected. You might also be able to open utilities from System Preferences, Printers & Scanners. Select your Printer and then select Options and Supplies.

Using the utility, it will print in color but not from a web page or document.

Fixed it. Opened colorsync app and found 2 versions of the printer 1 with gray scale. went to printer selector and eliminated the culprit version problem solved.
