Backup drive

I'm considering purchasing a Seagate Backup Plus 1TB Portable External Hard Drive for Mac USB 3.0 (STBW1000900).
My question is, I'm a little thrown off that it says "for Mac USB 3.0." I have a MacBook Pro 10.8.5 15-inch laptop that was manufactured in mid to late 2012.
Will this drive work on my Mac?
My concern is I always thought my USB was 2.0.

yea it will, and it will work at USB 3 speeds

Even if you had an older mac with usb 2, it would still work, just not as fast
