I am seeking sage advice . I'd like to connect my MBP to my tv via hdmi to watch a few videos i have. Ive worked out how to connect up and get the sound working but i can't work out how i can continue to transmit the video whilst being able to shut the lid of my MBK which i guess is sending it to sleep ? Not the trickiest of problems for you guys but one if those niggling things i need an answer to . Thanks for your time , first responder will no doubt solve

Don't close the lid - you're telling it to go to sleep - use the brightness keys to black out the monitor.

If the TV is seen as a secondary monitor, you should be able to close the lid and still have the TV operational. This is called clamshell mode. How are you connecting the two?

Thats exactly what i wanted to hear . As the thread suggests the Mac and Tv are connected via HDMI cable simply making the Tv a secondary output . The Mac recognises this in the sounds settings and display settings and the picture is beamed seamlessly
