Hey everyone I have 2 options. The first one is just to buy the black body thats listed below, or buy one with 2 gb RAM and 350 gb of HDD but other than that the same. (thanks for the help!)

Technical specs:

Brand: Apple
Processor Type: Intel Core 2 Duo
Product Family: MacBook
Processor Speed: 2.40 GHz
Release Year: 2008
Memory: 4 GB
Hard Drive Capacity: 750 GB
Screen Size: 13.3"
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.7, Lion

Your Mac's Specs

ebay recently sold prices for an 08 MB are:

$49.97
$183.50
$329 with a new battery
$299
$124.99
$162.51
$114.50
$199.99

If the battery isn't sitting at over about 85-90% capacity, I wouldn't give more than $100 for it.
Am not a believer in 6 year old computers being worth much - don't care if it does have an apple on it.
Would guess the owner probably wants at least $250 for it with the 750 GB drive in it.
Gotta make up your own mind what it's worth.

Depending on the condition…I would go no more than $250 (the 4gig of ram & 750 HD helps with the value).

But for what it's worth…I purchased the white version of this MacBook for $150 2 years ago.

Good luck,

- Nick

Wow Tom…some of those are lower than I would expect from eBay. Do you know if all of them were in working condition?

No, I just went through the sold listings looking for '08 white or black MBs that actually sold - didn't do any researching. The unibody late 08s were bringing around $250-$350 and have some sellers asking $400-$500 for them - way too much money for a 6 year old notebook.

Yeah…I see folks asking insane prices all the time. Coincidentally (just a few hours ago)…someone on my local Craig's List is asking $800 for a 2010 core 2 duo 13" Unibody MacBook Pro. In my estimation it's worth about $400-$450.

I contacted the seller (not to buy it…just to help them with the asking price). I mentioned that their asking price was way too much. They replied that they currently have offers of $600-$675 (which I doubt). I said…If those are serious offers...sell it ASAP before they change their minds!;)

Another one I found is this one.

Black Apple Macbook A1181 13" Laptop Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4Ghz 4GB, 160GB hD

The person is asking $240 for it which seems a bit pricey, but it does have a new battery.

Where are you buying your macs? haha and thank you.

It's called…the best deals show up when you don't need a computer.;) I'm looking all the time…whether I need a computer or not. If you don't look all of the time…great deals slip threw your fingers.

For $150…needed or not…I couldn't resist!:)

- Nick

p.s. Craig's List is the area for the best deals.:)

Like I said…the best deals are there when you don't need/want a computer.;) As soon as you're shopping for one…no good deals. That's why you cannot be in a hurry.

For the older "el cheapo" MacBooks you're looking at…they don't come up for sale very often. And when they do…some can be over-priced.

If I was to look today (right now)…there may not be any/zero older MacBooks for sale that meet your needs/budget. Just got to keep looking…and not be in a hurry.:)
