Receiving pictures via email

Hi guys, I page set a local magazine and receive copy via email. Typically this will be a page image plus 4-5 pictures. Recently on the iMac, when I open the email the last picture file and the page image (.doc) won't open or the picture is only half loaded. However, if I open the same email on my ipad, its OK. If i then forward the email to myself and then open it on the iMac, its OK!!
Very confused, any ideas please?
