Help with Kindle app

I have a Kindle app on my Mac, and one on my iPhone 5. I have several free books from the Kindle store on the Mac, and they syc with the iPhone. I also have some Gutenburg ebooks saved in .mobi format on the Mac. How do I get them into the Amazon Kindle cloud and on the iPhone. Will they sync like the Kindle originated ebooks?
