"Faces" are synced from iPhoto? Why?

Your Mac's Specs
iMac OS X 10.11.5; iPad2 (8.1.2-12B440); New iPad; MS-Office for Mac 2011 (14.5.5)
I normally sync photo albums to my iPad. There is an option NOT to include "Events" but "Faces" are
transferred automatically.
1) How to exclude "Faces"?
2) Better still: How to have "Faces" disappear completely in iPhoto?
