I'm buying a refurbished macbook pro 13" with retina for college this fall and have narrowed it down to two on the refurbished website. There is a february 2013 model for $1229 and a newer october 2013 model for $1269. Here are the specs:

February:
2.6 GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz)
3MB shared L3 cache
8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM
Intel HD Graphics 4000
256GB Flash Storage

October:
2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz)
3MB shared L3 cache
8GB of 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
Intel Iris Graphics
256GB flash storage

The only difference I really see is that the february model has a slighty faster processor and it's a little bit cheaper. Is the newer model the better choice and worth the extra money?

Side Note: I've heard apple has a $200 graduation promotion for laptops, could that apply to refurbished laptops?

From my very limited knowledge of MBK and based purely on the research i did before i bought mine i can offer the following
Option B has a better graphics , Intel Iris is the updated version . and i think that B 's processor is Haswell , 4th Gen Intel Core.
You haven't mentioned ports so are both the same ?

I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell you / me if any or all of the above is rubbish

That's a "no brainer". Go with the newer October 2013 model. As stated, better graphics and very little difference in processor speeds from the earlier model. And again, the October model has the latest CPU and will actually be faster than the earlier model.

As far as any Apple graduation promotion is concerned... it would probably apply to both new and refurbished models. However, check with Apple to be certain.

Did we not answer this aboiut using the Isis gfx card before? Anyway that is the go. The small CPU difference will hardly be noticable.

Between those 2 CPUs, the newer 2.4 benchmarks about 4% faster than the older 2.6.
