Hi, I'm trying to install a game using a patch.

It requires me to rename an alias file but I cant because it is locked. Ive clicked the padlock and dragged the file into Terminal using chflags nouchg. No effect.

Do I need to single user login and rename it/unlock it from there ?

This is the guide I am following http://www.gizmojunkee.com/2013/11/install-ut2004-on-os-x-lionmavericks/.

Thanks

Where in his instructions are you required to rename an alias file? As far as I can tell from the steps he gave, you're renaming the "demo" file.

In any event, if the file you're trying to rename is locked, you may need to unlock in Windows not OS X. It may be a matter of Windows ownership which you can not overcome in terminal.
