I have a new mac mini with osx version 10.9.3. While online or in You Tube, I run into announcements that I must download Adobe Flash Player in order to view content. I've done this three times and I still get this announcement and still can't view the content. What is the issue with Mac and Adobe Flash Player?:Grimmace:

Have you completely quit your browser and re-opened it? Without being quit entirely (Command-Q or in the menu for the browser), plugins can't be loaded.

Adobe Flash Player

Yes- like I mentioned, I tried this 3 or even 4 times and yes I quit the browser. Perhaps I quit at the wrong moment? I haven't a clue. Perhaps I should try again to give your answer a fair consideration. However if there is anything else you can tell me on this, it would also be appreciated. Thanks.

Does this happen across different browsers? What browser are you using? Each browser has a different way of checking to see if a plugin is loaded.

Just for another check, go into 'System Preferences' and look @ the bottom to see if the Flash Player icon is present - if not, then the plugin is not installed (see blue arrow on the attachment) - Dave :)

In System Preferences Flash should read version 14.0.0.225. And to clear up the quitting business, you close your browser hitting the 'Quit' command and not simply clicking the red button? Using the button closes the window but leaves the program open.

I am with Chas on this. Depending how you downloaded Flash that does not install it. Find the Download and double click and open it and follow the prompts.

Thanks gentlemen -all is well and working-I've been out of commission for a while, and getting back on track has me feeling like a newbie again. But thanks to your advice and patients I have now successfully downloaded and in stalled Flashplayer on both Safari and Firefox. Mac Forum is a Godsend!

Re all the above my problem is similar but different.

My iMac has two users, me (admin) and my wife (standard).

I have done all the above but videos will only play on my wife's Facebook account on her user section, when I swap users to myself Facebook videos are blocked and won't play. This is only since the last couple of updates from Adobe. Have checked all settings, reinstalled Adobe several times all to no avail.................. any suggestions?
