upgrading the ram in an macbook

hi i am thinking off buying this macbook pro

Configure - Apple Store (U.S.)


13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display

was wondering would i be able to update the ram at an later date ?


as i heard you cant or is just hard to get into to update the ram ?


also i still not sure if i should get an macbook or an air any ideas ?

They made the decision to hard solder the memory in the new motherboards, so get the RAM you need when purchasing

i still not sure if i should get an macbook air cos with turbo boost the cpus are pretty much the same when heavy lifting is getting done ?

I know that this may possibily be "new news" to you...but this was a hot topic here years ago.;) Suffice it to say...newer MacBook Pro's, MacBook Air's, and iMac's have less and less user upgradeable hardware.

If you choose a newer model MacBook Pro...you need to:

- configure it to what you think you will need for as long as you own it.
- purchase the low end MacBook Pro that is still upgradable
- purchase an older model in the Apple refurbished area
- purchase a used MacBook Pro (of course something newer and faster than what you currently have)

i have gone with the older macbook pro non Retina display and put in the i7 and will update the ram if i need to later and maybe put in an solid state drive will see

thank you for all your help guys know to sell my 09 imac to get back some off the money
