My husband accidentally dragged the download file from the doc. I found it with Finder, but am wondering if there's any way to put it back in the doc? Drag and dropping didn't work.

Drag and drop is how you do it. You can only put it on the right side of the Dock.

Right click on the Downloads folder in your sidebar and then select "Add to Dock". And you're done. :)

Never tried this, and I'm not at a Mac...
Can you open the downloads folder and then right click on it in the Dock, selecting "Keep in Dock" to make it stay? It's a Mac. There are always multiple ways to do things.

Think OP means doc for Documents in Finder rather than the physical DOCK?

No, I don't. But the last time I went to my dock, he said dementia was setting in.
