I have a Mini (2,1, Intel cre duo, 2ghzCPU,and 4 GB Ram). When I go to install Maverick,I get an error that it will not install on this PC....Upgrade from 10.6.8, Snow Leopard. Worked OK on my MacPro 15", early 2008, Intel Core duo, 2.4 GHz.
Any thoughts as to why I can' install Maverick?

Not all Macintosh computers meet the min. system requirements for Mavericks. A 2007 Mac-mini and a 2008 MacBook Pro are "different animals".;)

OS X Mavericks: System Requirements

A Mac-Mini 2,1 does not meet the min. system requirements for Mavericks.

p.s. The max. OS version for this Mac-mini is 10.7.5 (two versions older than 10.9 Mavericks).

Thanks, Even though I have 10,6,8 on both, my Mini doesn't me the minimum requirements. I tried Lion, but did not like it, and went back to Snow Leopard. I haven't spent any time with Maverick, so I have no experience with the new system....

...Even though I have 10,6,8 on both, my Mini doesn't me the minimum requirements.

Being able to run an older OS version like Snow Leopard (10.6.8) on both computers is no indicator as to the future OS upgrade path (or limitations) for each model.

10.6 = Snow Leopard
10.7 = Lion
10.8 = Mountain Lion
10.9 = Mavericks

Each computer model eventually has an OS cut-off. The Mac-Mini is older (2007) than the MacBook Pro (2008). So logically...the older 2007 Mac-Mini has reached it's max. OS version befor the "newer" MacBook Pro (2008).

As I mentioned...the Mac-Mini's max. OS is 10.7.5. If the Mac-Mini cannot run OS 10.8 (Mountian Lion)...it certainly cannot run OS 10.9 (Mavericks).
