OS X Mavericks: Installing app in USB drive

MacBook Air 11" i4 core, 256 SSD
I'm trying to install Scummvm for Mac in an USB drive and I have a couple of questions:

1. How can I direct the download from the download link to download directly to my USB drive or external HDD?
2. How can I install the .dmg file so that I don't have to run the .dmg file every time (this is what what I'm doing now), but rather have an icon/shortcut to run the app?

PPC Mini, 10.4.11. Intel Mini, 10.6.8. MacBook Pro, 10.14.6. M1 MBA 11.6.3 iPhone 5 iOS 12.5,
Just download and run the DMG, when it asks where to install it, choose your USB drive. If it shows a "Drag this to your Applications Folder" view, do that and then drag it from the Apps Folder to your USB drive.
