For some reason any and all downloads are failing to show up in "Downloads" in Finder as previously. I'm having lots of difficulties doing any downloads (particularly Apps from the ITunes Store) and need to restore the former situation where my downloads show as "Dosnloads" in Finder. Any suggestions?
Please - and thanks tons.
This of course is in my Mac OS X Mavericks and I'm running 10.9.3 with a 3.2 Intel Core processor.

Yes, I'm upgraded to the latest version of ITunes (and am trying to download FX Photo at present with no luck from the ITUnes store with no luck). I'm not sure what the "Media Folder" is but will attempt to find out and will do as you say.
Thanks

The "Media" Folder is in Music>iTunes>iTune Media>Apps/Movies/TV Shows/Podcasts and I think this is where Harry is saying to look for the iTunes downloads.
I would suggest a restart of your Mac then open iTunes again and try. Sometimes this helps immensely.

OK, "TatooedMac" I followed the links you suggested (and I appreciate your reply) and it did lead me to my Music Library - but not to any downloaded apps - such as FX Photo Studio which seems to me a most unlikely situation for that (or any) download to wind up. Only a few weeks ago, each time I purchased (or simply upgraded, updated) an app, it would show in my "Downloads" folder in Finder. What has happened to change that?? The app which I had supposedly downloaded was FX Photo Studio and surely that should not have been downloaded into my Media Library???
My question is: Why are my downloads NOT going into Finder>Downloads???
Thanks
Sam

If you are buying something from the Mac App Store, it is (of course) being installed directly into the place it is supposed to go: the Applications folder.

Only when you download an application (or image, etc) from a website would it go in the Downloads folder, and only if you have specified this folder as the destination in Safari (or whatever browser you are using)'s preferences.

See your confusing us, and yourself, because in your OP you mentioned iTunes and Apps, which if you download from the iTunes Store, they WILL be in your iTunes Media Folder.

If you downloaded from a 3Rd Party, then they SHOULD be in downloads, and then once you click the .dmg and install it, it WILL be in your Applications Folder.
And as chasm stated above, if you downloaded from the Mac App Store, then they will download straight into the Applications folder.
I have FX Photo Studio and other Apps from MacPhun, and some I have downloaded from the Mac App Store, and they are in my Applications Folder, and some because they were Gifted to me by MacPhun to Review, they came in a .dmg (Disk Image) and I had to install it from my downloads Folder, so once you work out where you are downloading it from, we can help a little more. . . .

Chas_M:
This is my problem. All downloads in the past have gone to my "Downloads" folder. As of recently, NONE are! Also, every download from the App Store has always gone to my Downloads Folder and now none are usually - but yesterday, I did do a re-download of Flash Player and an upgrade and they did go to my Downloads Folder which is the first time a download has done such in months. Something is amiss for sure. Purchases from the App Store have never gone directly to "Apps" but I've had to drag 'n drop from Downloads every time - which I had to do to Flash Player and Upgrade yesterday. ?????
Thanks for your help.

First of all ANY download from the Mac App Store goes straight to Applications as a installed, ready to use Application.
2nd, ANY App downloaded from the iTunes Store, will go to your iTunes Media Folder and into the Apps Folder there.
If what your saying is true, something is up.

1st reboot the Mac. 2nd, open Disk Utility and repair permissions on the Macintosh HD by electing it in the left column, then the First Aid tab top centre and then finally Repair Disk Permissions down the bottom.

Once its all done, don't worry about the errors in the log window, but restart you Mac again.

See if that makes a difference . . . If not download Oynx for your version of OS, run the scripts from there and reboot and see if that helps.

If not, something else is terribly wrong. I have never heard about something like this before.

There's definitely a problem somewhere with your setup. Boot to your Recovery Partition, select Utilities, Disk Utility, and do a permissions repair. Let's see if that works to get you back on track. App Store downloads are designed to automatically install and be placed in your Applications folder.

One other thing.... Is your Home Folder where it's supposed to be? For example:

/Macintosh HD/users/your user name
