I have a 11'' 2012 macbook air with a strange horizontal grey line that won't go away first 4 seconds when i turn on the device that line is white then turns grey and stays that way.

Is not a software issue, external display does not show that glitch, can't send it back to apple it's like a year and a half old. Do i need to change the display or could it be something else that could be fixed without buying another screen?

If an external display does not have the horizontal line thru it, then it's likely a screen defect. Changing out the screen is probably what you're going to have to do. You should always buy Apple Care for a portable computer - but too late now. I don't know where you're posting from (Mexico?) but you'll need to check locally for an Apple dealer.
