Hi
I have recently upgraded to a new iMac with Mavericks operating system and wondering if there is anyway I can use my old slide scanner - a Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro with it?

Thanks

If your Multi Pro is dual interface, i.e. SCSI + IEEE-1394, then you can just use this Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire adapter

If it's only SCSI - I had one of the earlier ones in 1999, and it was only SCSI, might have been slightly different model, can't remember now - then it's a bit more complicated: there are SCSI-USB adapters, but these are very slow, expensive and remarkably unreliable. Some people tried daisy-chain SCSI-FireWire-Thunderbolt, but it wasn't as straightforward as it might seems in theory ... very mixed results, from what I heard.

So, hopefully your model is more advanced, and does have a FireWire port ;)
