A Yellow Apple

When my 2012 MacBook Pro w/Retina Display turns on, the Apple Logo turn Yellow for several seconds before turning white. Is that indicative of pending trouble?

Did you buy Apple Care for your 2012 rMBP?

I take it you don't have good news for me.

No, I just wanted to advise you to have Apple look at it. Since you do have Apple Care, any repairs will be free. There have been some reports of early retina screens that were replaced by Apple for various defects. Since your machine is a 2012, it might be a good idea to have it checked out while your Apple Care warranty is still in effect. Let us know what Apple has to say.

Thank you for your input. I'll take my computer to Apple and discuss it with a Genius. I back up my computer weekly, and I hope it's nothing too ominous.

Do you have any apps installed that "auto-open" on startup/reboot of the computer? These may interfere with the "normal" startup "visual".

This doesn't mean anything is wrong...but these auto-open apps may modify/alter the startup process.

If you can...either uninstall it...or suspend it's auto-loading...and see if that makes a difference.

But like I mentioned. It really may not be an issue...just something that cuases the flash of yellow...due to the auto-loading app.

Just out of curiosity couldn't the OP test this by creating an new user account and then lofting into that account before adding any login items. That way you don't have to worry about whether you miss any potential startup items.

The best test is to startup in "Safe" mode since that kills all startup applications and removes all third party drivers. Hold down your Shift key and reboot. Keep holding the Shift key until you see the Apple on the screen.

p.s. Just to throw another idea out there. OP could boot from an external drive as well (without any auto-start items).

I often forget about safe mode. Must be a mental block. Reminds me too much of Windows.
