in final cut when i go to prefrences i can set the audio and video quality under playback. is this the quality of the final producot r just while i am editng?

Just while you are editing, but It can be the quality of final product if you write to dv or vhs with out putting that setting back.. if you are going to dvd you will not have to change this back.
