Apple TV has strange happenings

For the 3rd time in as many days, when I try to access the tv channel Crackle, it won't access, so I play around with the remote to move on, but that is besides the point of post. While I am moving the cursor around with my Apple TV remote, my wife's MacBook Pro sees the volume go up and down and even access her music library and play the first sone in play list. Any idea what is happening and what can be done about it?

I think the Mac and Apple TV are both receiving signals from the remote. Several Mac models have the IR sensor to receive signals from that remote. Give this thread a read. The post by Alley_Cat explains everything and provides a fix.
