Steve Ballmer agrees to buy the Clippers for $2 Billion.

Source: Steve Ballmer agrees to buy Clippers for record $2 billion - CNN.com

Let's see if he does any better running the Clippers than he did Microsoft! ;P

Guess I can put my wallet back in my pocket now.:)

He might well have overpaid though. I think the last NBA team to come up for sale went for a mere half billion IIRC. This year they have a higher profile than most of the California teams but for most of their history that has not been true

Thanks. Didn't remember which team it was.

I realize a franchise in a large market like LA or New York would be worth more but I doubt that the difference is a factor of four. The record of the team matters two. Roughly two billion for the Lakers might be close to right. Yes I know the Lakers are not so good right now but when you buy a franchise you're buying the whole kit 'n caboodle.

Every new player signed gets a copy of Windows 8.1 and a Zune whether they want one or not. Elite players get as many copies of Windows Me as they can carry away.

Hey Sly, I've got a genuine WinME disk here still in its original jacket that you can have. You can put it alongside your copy of Vista! :p

I have always wondered - at what level income do the execs have to be on to cheer that crap 'going crazy'. Certainly not junior level who would cringe!

Harry, when I first saw that video, considering his weigh†*and age I was concerned screaming and jumping like that he might just have a stoke!

My wife is the Windows person in the family. Even she did not like Vista. I managed to pretty much avoid it, Only had to use it a handful of machines at work. Most of those boxes had XP. By the time they were being replaced Win 7 was taking hold.

Sly, this will probably freak you out but here goes. When Vista first came out and I tried it on older AMD hardware I hated it. Ran it down more than most. Well I bought a new at the time intel Mac Mini 1.66 Core Duo and upped the RAM to max. For the fun I tried Vista on it and it flew. After using it a while I also found it was way more robust than XP and had a much faster network stack. My Neighbor surfed porn and was always getting virus's. I got him a copy of Vista and installed it and he in over 2 years never had one more issue. Never and it never crashed on him or I either.

What I found if you give it good hardware, it's a very nice OS. I was shocked and reversed my opinion on Vista.

ME though was an disaster from day one!!!

I wonder if the Clippers' "front office" uses Macs right now.

If they do, they won't be for very long! Surface Pros for all employees and players. ;) By the way, no one can forget Ballmer's famous interview back in 2009 when he stated that the iPhone would not sell. :p

But, he is an avid basketball fan and probably will succeed with the Clippers. Look at Mark Cuban and what he did for the Dallas Mavericks. (Not to be confused with our famous operating system.)
