I have a MacBook Pro (2013) and want to read text and maps on discs that are in Windows format. What is the easiest way to do this?

Text file can be read in OS X without needing windows. What format are the maps in? To run Windows, you would first require a copy of Windows and then you can use VirtualBox (a free virtualization software) to create a VM and install Windows into that. Then you'd install whatever software you use to read these files in that VM and go from there..

Depending upon what format the maps and text are in you may not need Windows at all. Can you tell us more about what format the files are in?
