Hey guys! first time posting. thanks in advance. i have a macbook pro from 2013 and i want to send my audio to a digital/analog converter. i read online that i need a toslink or a coaxial cable to go from computer to conversion box. i looked at toslink cables online but the male ends do not seem to match up with any of the outputs on my macbook. anybody know what i'm doing wrong here? thank you VERY much.

If one end of the cable is called "mini-toslink" then it is probably the right cable.

Yes - the headphone ports are combo stereo analog and digital via a mini toslink connector.
Have to realize - you're not going to get 5.1 output though unless your source is 5.1.

All you should need for that is a 3.5mm stereo mini-plug to RCA cable - shouldn't have any need to do a digital to analog conversion.
