Hello, I have been listening to my IMACs fans ROARING at full speed ever since I changed the hard drive out, by myself.

I have done a lot of research but nobody has my specific problem.

I am using WINDOWS 7 on my IMAC 2009 27 inch, with no trace of mac OS on this machine.

I have seen programs like sdfancontrol or whatever to get the fans to slow down, however I am using WINDOWS and that file cannot be opened.

HOW do i slow these fans down?!

GOD BLESS YOU

What iMac model do you have? Did the old hard drive have a sensor lead attached going to a connector on the top of the logic board? If not you would either need an Apple hard drive, or an Apple replacement interface cable that has been modified with a temperature sensor. This sensor then needs attaching to the new hard drive. This is typical for the older iMacs from 2011. Using a fan control program is far from ideal as the fan speed will not increase as the iMac warms up.

Give certain fan controls a big miss and if you must, look at HDD fan control. It is not free but is good. Your problem is a hard drive has been replaced without Apple's proprietory heat sensors making it roar like a jumbo jet. Have a read of this:-
